AIMRx hosted our very own compounding workshop on June 18th where a total of 31 pharmacy students were able to make a variety of products and take them home. The items featured at this compounding event included the following: herbal tea, oatmeal-lavender scrub, and herbal balm. Students were able to learn about the therapeutic properties of the products so they will be able to incorporate such natural remedies into their patient-care. The herbal tea blend included peach tranquility (energizing mix of lemongrass, lemon verbena and green tea) as well as a plain green tea (enhances mental alertness). The oatmeal-lavender scrub could be used to treat eczema and dermatitis and be used as an anxiolytic. Lastly, the herbal balm can be used for muscle pain. Students were able to get creative and add any mixture of essential oils to create a personal balm. The essential oils available were: peppermint, eucalyptus, and clove oil. After the workshop concluded, students were able to fill out a quick survey. AIMRx hopes to host more compounding workshops in the future were students will be able to learn more about alternative and integrative medicine, create their very own products and take them home to enjoy!
