The week of July 11th capped off AIMRx’s second annual De-Stress Week. Committee members planned a fun and stress-free week for all of the students and faculty of Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The week started off with an aromatherapy compounding workshop, where participants were able to make their own scented soaps and aromatic candles. This event was a huge success, and each student was able to take home their own handmade goodies along with instructional handouts if they wanted to make them in the future.
On Wednesday, AIMRx hosted Darlene Layman of Euphoric Massage, who taught the attendees about the benefits of massage. She also demonstrated massage techniques for students to do on their own or with a partner to help relax during finals! In addition, we passed out flyers to educate those who attended about the benefits of massage and why taking a few relaxing breaks when studying is beneficial!
Our last event was Puppies on the Lawn, where students were able to have some fun in the sun with puppies and sip on refreshing fruit-infused water. This event was a massive hit, and it was great to see the smiles of all of the people and dogs in attendance. We also passed out flyers about why having a pet has great health benefits!
Lastly, for every event that a student went to, they were entered into a drawing to win a yoga mat and Hydroflask. Congratulations to our winners this year!
AIMRx would like to thank everyone who helped make this week successful, and for all of those who participated in the activities. We would also like to thank Dr. Wagner for his help with the aromatherapy compounding workshop, and Dr. Norton for attending our massage techniques speaker event! We hope that our fellow students were able to de-stress through these events before finals come around!
